LOCAL OUTREACH: committed to demonstrating the generous love of God to our neighbourhoods through structured involvement in prioritized community service activities as well as church based programs.

ALPHA

This ten week course allows participants to explore the meaning of life while enjoying a sumptuous dinner, an entertaining video presentation and open discussion. The course is also offered in Mandarin (Chinese). Child care is provided. Wednesday, September 22, 2010.

Participant Requirement: late teens to adults with a desire to explore the meaning of life in the context of historic Christian thought.

HELPING HANDS

This group of volunteers provides minor repairs for those in our community with physical or financial constraints. This includes a variety of needs such as plumbing, electrical, carpentry, yard work, painting, etc.

Participant Requirement: adults who have basic trade skills who would like to volunteer to assist those in need within our community.

LIGHT OF HOPE, SENIORS SUPPORT

A significant need within our community is providing one on one weekly support for lonely seniors. One or two hours weekly is spent visiting an assigned senior who has requested this service with whom you have a common interest. Training and support is provided.

Participant Requirement: Older teens through adults who will be committed to longevity of service on a weekly basis to a senior within our local community.

LIGHT OF HOPE, SOUTH SURREY FOOD BANK

Over 500 people in our community are reliant upon our local food bank. PPAC is committed to providing volunteers as well as donations of cash and food to this important organization. You can help many in legitimate, serious need of help.

Participant Requirement: Adults volunteering a few daytime hours one day a week. Contact:  sharon9w@telus.net

NIGHTSHIFT

NightShift is a Christian charity with whom our church has partnered to provide for the needy and homeless living within the Whalley area of our city. Two teams of volunteers each one Saturday per month prepare food and distribute food and clothing to our street friends. A wide variety of skills are needed for this ministry.

Participant Requirement: teens and adults willing to volunteer a few hours per month. Training and support provided. Contact:Dane Watson or Helene Iliffe

PEACE PORTAL CHINESE ALLIANCE CHURCH

This Mandarin speaking group warmly welcomes everyone for worship, teaching and fellowship to the following activities: Worship services, Sundays 3:00 pm, room L201. Teaching for children provided; Adult Bible Study Thursday 10:00am & 7:00 pm (youth group provided), room L01. The Alpha Course for adults exploring the Christian faith or those who recently became followers of Jesus, Wednesdays January 27 - April 7 and September 22 - December 1. Watch for periodic special social events.

Participant Requirement: Mandarin speaking families and adults seeking a place to worship and grow in the Christian faith with a ministry emphasis on outreach. Contact:Chu or Sherly Hsi www.ppcac.ca

PEACE PORTAL RIDERS

An opportunity for people who love motorcycles to connect through weekly rides and times of fellowship. Not brand specific. . .any type of bike is welcome. Participants of this group share acceptance and authentic caring with one another, and of course...a love of motorcycles. There are those who have been riding only a few years and those that have been riding all their life, so anyone is welcome to join. During the summer months rides are held every Monday night as well as one Saturday a month to a specific destination.

STEPPING STONES

A program of Greater Vancouver Youth For Christ/Youth Unlimited, committed to providing hope for parenting youth in the Surrey area. The majority of these young people (some as young as 12) have come from troubled and unsupportive homes. Volunteers (men and women) from Peace Portal Alliance have opportunity to fill a variety of roles in helping build this critical area of need. GLOBAL OUTREACH: committed to join the mission of God both locally and globally - tangibly demonstrating the love of Christ through both word and deed.

SHORT-TERM TRIPS

A short-term missions trip is a great way to serve people in love. These experiences are also great learning experiences that can help transform our Christian lives and make us more like Jesus. OUTREACH WEEKENDS

Throughout the year we dedicate a weekend to celebrate, inspire, and inform people about local and global outreach initiatives that our church is invovled in. Mark this date down and join us - March 28, 2010!

Participant Requirement: You! Usually a small cost for an evening meal.

PEACE PORTAL UGANDA

Peace Portal Uganda is a unique partnership between PPAC and Peace Portal Community Church in Mpigi, Uganda. Through our sister church we support: 52 kids in three Children's Homes, two churches, a monthly medical clinic, a primary school, fresh water initiatives, and agricultural projects.

Participant Requirement: those willing to pray, give, promote or visit
