Journey Student Ministries – (JSM) - Thursday Nights 7:30-9:30.
What is Journey?
Journey is our Junior High and High School Ministry here at Peace Portal Alliance Church. We are a collection of students ranging from grades 6-12 and representing over ten different high schools throughout South Surrey / White Rock and the surrounding area.
Journey is divided into two groups, J-1 and J-2
J-1 Grades 6,7,8 – Thursday from 6:30-8:30 - If you are interested in spending your Thursday night playing intense games, with incredible people, having your life changed by powerful and applicable Bible-based lessons, worshipping with the Journey Youth Band and having incredible conversations in a life group, J-1 is your place! It’s a ton of fun and a great place to bring your friends to.
J-2 Grades 9,10,11,12 – Thursday from 7:30-9:30 – J-2 is a place where everyone is welcome, where students have the opportunity to engage with the truth of who God is, what He is doing and what He wants to do in their lives. Most nights consist of a time of high-energy worship with the Journey Youth Band, a solid and applicable Bible-based message and time to connect with your life group, ask questions and do life together.
Our goal at JSM is to create an environment that is safe and welcoming where students can encounter the living God in a real way and invite a friend to do the same. The nights typically feature a time of high-energy worship with the Journey Youth Band (www.journeyyouthband.com), crowd involvement games and a relevant Bible based message meant to stir our students into thinking critically about who God is in their lives.
Most nights will be capped off with a time spent in a Small Group setting. The Small Groups range from 5-12 students of the same age and gender and are lead by a dedicated and gifted adult leader. It is in these groups that students are given the opportunity to open up and share about their lives and ask the tough questions about their faith no matter where they are on their Journey.
JSM is a place where students can learn about God, celebrate what He is doing and be radically transformed by a living relationship with Jesus Christ.
We worship God and serve Him with passion and excitement.
Service and Outreach
JSM students have a heart for missions both locally and abroad. We are actively involved in NightShift Street Ministry, Peace Portal Uganda, Dalit Freedom Network and several other organizations. We recognize our call to be the hands and feet of Christ, to look after all of God’s people regardless of where they are.
Our Core Values
1-We are Christ Centered and focused on living a life not only inspired by, but focused on honouring Him. We are set apart in our action and passion and above all, we Love God and Love others. (Matthew 22:34-40)
2- We are fun, friendly, open and welcoming – This will always be a safe place to bring a friend, where no question is wrong to ask. No matter what, we ALWAYS belong here.
3- We know that each person is at a different place in their walk with Christ and we celebrate each person’s Journey. We recognize that Jesus is with us no matter where we are.
4- We develop leaders, encouraging and affirming each other in our faith Journey. We strive to build personal relationships with Christ that are deep rooted and ready to endure.
